Obituary

Jerry Pullman, beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, passed away at the age of 81, leaving behind a legacy defined by athletic excellence, quiet integrity, and genuine kindness.

Jerry was born October 12, 1944, to David and Olga Fadel Pullman, and grew up alongside his older brother, Paul. From an early age, it was clear that Jerry was something special. At Highland High School, he earned letters in three sports and was part of the 1962 Highland football team that claimed the state championship, a memory he carried with pride throughout his life. He graduated with the class of 1963.

Jerry went on to the University of Utah, where his athletic gifts continued to shine. He was named All-Conference in both football and baseball and was honored to be part of the 1964 University of Utah Football Liberty Bowl Championship team. In football, he held the WAC career interception record for 13 years, which is a testament to the instincts, discipline, and competitiveness that defined him as an athlete. Following college, Jerry pursued professional baseball, spending four years in the San Francisco Giants organization.

Even as the years passed, Jerry never lost his love of competition. He continued playing softball and soccer well into later life, because for Jerry, the game was never really over.

After his playing days, Jerry devoted himself to his work and his community with the same dedication he had brought to every field he stepped onto. He worked for many years in the family business, Pullman English Tailors, where he was known not only for his warmth with customers, but above all for his honesty and integrity; qualities that were simply who he was. He later joined Ivory Homes, where he spent more than 20 years as a consistently top-performing sales consultant and trainer, earning the respect and admiration of colleagues and clients alike.

Jerry is survived by six children, ten grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. He shared a close and cherished bond with those who were a constant presence in his life, and that love meant the world to him.

At the end, Jerry was surrounded by love, including that of his cherished daughters, Tara and Sage, as well as his lifelong friends, Bish and Sue Held, who remained by his side until the very last moment. That loyalty was a reflection of the man he was, which was someone who inspired deep and lasting devotion in everyone fortunate enough to know him.

The family would like to extend our deepest gratitude to Julie and Kylee, whose kindness and grace carried us through these past few weeks.

Jerry Pullman was one of a kind. He will be profoundly missed and forever remembered.

Graveside services will be held at 12:00 pm on Friday, May 15, 2026 at the Salt Lake City Cemetery, 200 N Street, Salt Lake City, Utah.

Tributes

As his sister-in-law, we had many phone coversations, especial the last days of his life. IF I didn't contact him he would call me. He attended his brother Pau'ls induction into the Salt Lake City Bowling Hall of Fame and we had a delightful evening. He wil be greatly missed by all who knew him. Love you!!

Jerry, I miss you. You were always the kind, receptive ear and heart which I could rely on. I feel that I never fully told you how much I admired you as a person and an athlete -- I regret that. I think I could listen to you tell your stories of athletic adventures all day. I (think) I still have the suit you sold me for my first cruise 30+ years ago. It was an enjoyable experience; you were a total professional. In the days I have left I will not forget you. Memories with and about you will give me peace and comfort. Steve

Jerry was a great athlete, but he was a better person. We played football together and played on a intramural basketball team made up of freshmen football players. Lost to Sigma Chi in the championship. We were also fraternity brothers in Beta Theta Pi.

Patti Murphy

Jerry was one of the biggest reasons my career took off. He had so many bits of great information that he chose to share with me.
I will miss our conversations and the random calls we would make to each other! Godspeed my friend!

I'm so grateful we had the opportunity to spend some time together the last 3 years and get to know one another. As you said..and I also wish: we should have gotten to know each other sooner. I'll always cherish our visit to Little America Grand and the Ginger Bread House at Christmas. God speed to an amazing, sweet friend and former schoolmate. I will miss you Jerry.

Thank you, Jerry, not just for over 20 wonderful years of working together, but for the lasting friendship that came from it. Your passion for providing the very best customer service, regardless of compensation, was inspiring. Whether helping a buyer find the perfect home, supporting a friend in need, or tackling a challenging problem, you always gave your all.
May God continue to bless you and your family.

As someone who worked with Jerry st Ivory Homes , I can only reiterate what a wonderful associate he was to work with. He had such integrity - you never had to worry about Jerry "stealing" a client, or not helping your client. He was always there to help you be the best YOU could be. Jerry was only competitive with himself, never with you.
When my husband died, Jerry was only one of two salesman who attended his funeral. I will always remember looking into the congregation and thinking, "I knew Jerry would come"
My condolences to his daughters who will miss him every single day. You can be proud to have come from such a wonderful man!

Jerry remains one of the longest friendships I have. At English Tailors he mentored several of us to build ethics and work outs. For over 30 years he supported and cared unconditionally.

Jerry was a good friend,he was a Highland High School Ram. We played football together and the Rams won the State Highschool championship in 1961,1962 school year. Jerry kicked all of the extra points and field goals for the team and I held the ball on the ground for him as he kicked the ball. My favorite memory of Jerry kicking an extra point was against East high school during the regular season . We had just scored to tie the game 6 to 6 with 10 seconds to go in the game on the Clock. I received the snap from the center and put the ball on the ground and Jerry kicked the ball through the upright and we won the game 7 to 6. The fans went wild and we went on to win the state football championship Jerry was the best kicker of all time and a very good friend we love you Jerry🥰
